My brothers and I went to a pottery class as children, and a few of the pieces we made back then are still used in my family. My aim has been to reconnect to that work, using my 8 year-old self as inspiration.
By making these, I’ve been able to imagine what it was like for me to make these things as a child. Witnessing the micro-decisions one makes: What colour? What shape? What is acceptable? I must have also been making these judgments as a child. Picking up where he left off. As well as thinking about the ways in which I am the same and different from the child I was.
